Kronospan was founded in 1897 as a sawmill in Lungotz, Austria. Since then the business has grown to 39 sites in 20 countries, employing over 14,000 people making us one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wood-based panels.

In the UK we have been manufacturing in Chirk, North Wales for over 50 years. Our Chirk site manufactures particle board, medium density fibreboard (MDF), melamine faced boards and laminate flooring – we’re the UK most comprehensive manufacturer of wood-based panels and proud to be the UK’s only domestic manufacturer of laminate flooring. Our products manufactured in the UK are made using timber sourced in the UK, keeping the carbon footprint of our products as low as possible. We have also pioneered the use of recycled timber in our particleboard helping us achieve industry leading levels of recycled content in our board, making us the sustainable choice for environmentally conscious consumers.
